What is a Canadian Student Visa (Study Permit)?

A Canadian student visa, officially known as a Study Permit, allows international students to study at Designated Learning Institutions (DLIs) in Canada. You must apply for this permit before arriving in Canada (with limited exceptions).

The permit is usually valid for the length of your study program plus 90 extra days. This additional time allows you to prepare to leave Canada or apply to extend your stay.
