Why Study in Canada?

Canada is one of the top destinations for international students. Here’s why thousands of students choose Canada each year:

  • High-quality education system with globally recognized degrees

  • Affordable tuition and living costs compared to other Western countries

  • Safe, multicultural, and welcoming environment

  • Permission to work part-time during studies and full-time during breaks

  • Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) for up to three years

  • Pathways to permanent residency for eligible graduates

What is a Canadian Student Visa (Study Permit)?

A Canadian student visa, officially known as a Study Permit, allows international students to study at Designated Learning Institutions (DLIs) in Canada. You must apply for this permit before arriving in Canada (with limited exceptions).

The permit is usually valid for the length of your study program plus 90 extra days. This additional time allows you to prepare to leave Canada or apply to extend your stay.

Students may be eligible to work while studying and apply for a Post-Graduate Work Permit upon graduation.

Who is Eligible?

To apply for a Canadian study permit, you must meet the following requirements:

  • A letter of acceptance from a Designated Learning Institution (DLI)

  • Proof that you have sufficient funds to pay for tuition, living expenses, and return travel

  • No criminal record (a police clearance certificate may be required)

  • A medical exam may be required, depending on your country of residence

  • A clear intention to leave Canada after your studies (unless applying for PR)

  • Strong ties to your home country (such as family, property, or employment)
